Integrating Smart Sprinklers with Camera Monitoring

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share an interesting idea I came across while trying to optimize my smart sprinkler system. As many of us know, smart sprinklers like the Wyze Sprinkler are fantastic for automating watering, but I recently had an issue where the valve failed to shut off after the sprinklers were done. This led to an unfortunate 10,000 gallons of water being wasted over 14 hours! :rotating_light:

After that incident, I started thinking about how we could integrate cameras with sprinkler systems to monitor water usage more effectively. Many modern cameras have advanced recognition features, so maybe they could be programmed to detect if water is still running even after the sprinkler system has turned off. Since cameras are already monitoring the yard for security purposes, it seems like a natural fit to add this functionality.

I reached out to Wyze support about this idea, and while they haven’t implemented it yet, they did mention that it’s something they’re considering for future updates. In the meantime, I’ve been experimenting with setting up my own system using existing cameras and some custom rules in my smart home app. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m hopeful it’ll prevent any future water wastage.

If anyone else has tried something similar or has tips on how to set this up, I’d love to hear about it! :seedling:节水从我做起!

Best,
