- MQTT Broker Configuration: I set up Mosquitto MQTT broker on my local network. It was straightforward using their official documentation.
- Hubitat Drivers: I installed the Linktap MQTT Controller and Linktap MQTT Taplinker drivers from Hubitat Package Manager. These drivers automatically discover and manage all devices connected to my gateway.
Features I Love
- Device Status Monitoring: The driver keeps me updated on battery levels, valve statuses, and water usage in real-time.
- Scheduled Watering: I can set up watering plans directly through Hubitat, perfect for maintaining my garden even when I’m away.
- Rain Data Integration: By sending local rain data to the gateway, I ensure that scheduled waterings are skipped during rainy days, saving water and preventing overwatering.
Challenges and Solutions
