Integrating SmartThings Hub with Outdoor Lighting: A Success Story

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent success in integrating my SmartThings hub with my outdoor lighting setup. I’ve been looking for a way to automate my outdoor lights without having to individually control each one, and I think I’ve finally nailed it!

I have a setup with a 3-way switch connected to a fused spur and a 2-way switch connected to another fused spur. Initially, I was a bit overwhelmed by the complexity of the wiring and how to connect everything seamlessly through my SmartThings hub. But after some research and trial and error, I found a solution that works perfectly.

Here’s what I did: I configured the hub to recognize both switches as part of the same lighting system. Now, I can turn all my outdoor lights on or off with a single command. It’s been a game-changer for me, especially during the evenings when I want to set the mood without fumbling with individual switches.

One thing I learned is the importance of ensuring that all components are properly connected and that the hub is correctly paired with each device. I also discovered that while having all lights individually switchable is an option, the ‘all or nothing’ approach works best for my use case.

If anyone else is looking to do something similar, I’d recommend starting with a simple setup and gradually expanding. It’s also worth checking out the community forums for tips and tricks. Happy automating! :rocket:
