Integrating SmartThings Motion Sensors for Efficient Home Automation

I’ve been exploring ways to optimize my home automation setup, particularly with SmartThings motion sensors. Recently, I noticed a significant delay in the new motion sensors triggering compared to the older models. The old ones would activate within less than a second, while the new ones take between 2.5 to 3.5 seconds. This delay has been quite inconvenient for my use cases, such as turning on lights when ascending stairs or entering a room. I’m curious if others have encountered similar issues and if there are any solutions or workarounds to reduce this delay.

I’ve tested multiple sensors and consistently observed this behavior. The automation rules are identical for both old and new sensors, so it’s puzzling why there’s such a difference in response time. I’m wondering if there’s a firmware update or configuration setting that could address this.

For now, I’m considering alternative sensors or adjusting my routines to accommodate the delay. It would be great to hear from others who might have faced this challenge and how they resolved it. Let’s collaborate to find a solution that ensures smoother home automation experiences!
