Hey everyone, I’m thrilled to share my recent project integrating my Subaru’s HomeLink rearview mirror buttons with my smart home setup! 
As a newbie to home automation, I was curious about leveraging the three dedicated buttons in my Subaru for more than just garage door control. After some research, I found a neat solution using a Z-Wave relay device. The idea is to have each button trigger different smart home actions!
Here’s what I’ve got working so far:
- First Button: Turns on my outdoor lights for 5 minutes. Perfect for those late-night arrivals!
- Second Button: Activates my indoor hallway lights. No more fumbling in the dark after a long day!
- Third Button: Turns off all selected lights. Simple yet effective!
The setup was a bit of a puzzle at first, but once I got the hang of it, it was smooth sailing! I’m now eyeing other creative uses, like controlling my coffee maker or adjusting the thermostat. The possibilities are endless!
