Hi everyone, I’m really excited to share my journey of integrating my Velux devices with Home Assistant. I’ve been using Velux Active app on my Android phone for a while now, and it’s been working great. However, I’m looking to expand my setup and integrate my Velux KIG 300 gateway into Home Assistant. I’ve read through some posts and forums, but most of them mention using HomeKit, which I don’t have access to since I don’t own any Apple devices.
I’ve tried linking my Velux devices with Google, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work with Alexa. This is a bit of a setback because I was really hoping to control my Velux devices through my existing smart home ecosystem. I’ve come across a few posts mentioning the possibility of integrating Velux devices via HomeKit, but without an Apple device, I’m not sure how to proceed.
I’ve also heard about using third-party integrations or custom scripts, but I’m not very experienced with coding or scripting. I’m wondering if there’s a simpler way to achieve this integration. Maybe someone in the community has found a workaround or has some tips to share?
Another thing I’m curious about is whether there’s a way to automate my Velux devices based on certain conditions, like the time of day or weather. For example, I’d love to have my skylights open automatically in the morning and close when it starts raining. If anyone has successfully set up something similar, I’d love to hear about your experience!
I’m really looking forward to hearing from the community. Let’s see if we can figure this out together!
