Integrating Vera and Z-Wave Devices for Remote Monitoring

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation, and I must say, it’s both exciting and a bit overwhelming! I currently have a setup with multiple Vera devices—1 Vera3 as the main hub and 3 Vera2’s as slaves. My goal is to bridge my office Vera Lite (located about 10 miles away) to my Vera3 system. While I can access it through my MiOS login, I’m struggling to find a way to bridge them properly. I’ve added a smoke detector at the office, and I’d love to have a Z-Wave siren at home trigger if there’s a fire detected. Does anyone have experience with this kind of setup? I’d appreciate any tips or guidance!

On a different note, I’ve been experimenting with creating automated scenes using SmartThings. It’s been a learning curve, especially figuring out the right controllers and junction boxes for my recessed lighting. Initially, I thought about using Insteon dimmers, but I heard they don’t work well with SmartThings. I’d love to hear recommendations on compatible devices that can simplify the installation process.

Another area I’m curious about is the Govee app on Apple Watch. I’ve seen some impressive reviews, but I’m wondering about its functionality compared to other apps. Does it offer unique features that make it stand out? I’d love to hear your experiences!

Lastly, I’ve been working on a rule for my home automation system using the gptracker binding. The idea is to activate an “entry” routine when I’m near home and an “exit” routine when I leave. However, I’m facing issues with timing the exit phase correctly to avoid reactivating the entry rule. If anyone has tackled similar challenges, I’d be grateful for any suggestions or code examples.

It’s incredible how much potential there is with these devices, and I’m excited to continue exploring and refining my setup. Thanks to everyone in the community for their insights and support!
