I recently made the switch from Vera Plus to SmartThings, and I must say, it’s been a breath of fresh air! The ecosystem within SmartThings is so much more integrated and user-friendly compared to Vera Plus. However, I still find Vera Plus incredibly handy for setting up direct Z-Wave associations for my lighting devices, which is something SmartThings doesn’t quite match yet.
One thing I’ve been exploring is the possibility of using Vera as a secondary controller within SmartThings. From what I’ve read in the community, it’s theoretically possible, but there’s a lot of confusion about how exactly to set it up. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s successfully integrated Vera into their SmartThings setup. Specifically, I’m curious if SmartThings can recognize Vera’s Z-Wave devices and control them without merging the mesh tables. It would be fantastic to manage everything from one app, though I know Alexa is always an option!
For anyone considering a similar transition, I’d recommend taking it step by step. Start by migrating your most critical devices and gradually phase out Vera as you get comfortable with SmartThings. The support community here is invaluable, and I’ve learned so much just by reading through others’ experiences. If you’re thinking about making the switch, don’t hesitate to reach out—I’d be happy to share what I’ve learned so far!
Let’s keep the conversation going! Have you successfully integrated multiple controllers? What tips can you share for a seamless transition?
