Integrating Wyze and Govee Devices for Temperature Monitoring

I’ve been exploring ways to integrate my Wyze and Govee devices for better temperature monitoring around my home. It’s been a fun and educational journey! Let me share some of my experiences and tips with you.

First, I wanted to monitor the temperature in my chicken coop. I’ve been using a Wyze camera for this purpose, but I also wanted to track the temperature. I came across some discussions about using a Wyze temperature-sensing outlet to trigger events, like turning on a heat lamp when it gets too cold. It’s a clever idea, and I’m excited to see if this will work seamlessly with my setup.

On the Govee front, I’ve been impressed with their smart bulbs and how they integrate with my system. However, I noticed that the LAN control option was missing from the newer GU10 bulbs. I reached out to their support, and they mentioned that this feature might be added in future updates. I’m hopeful and will keep an eye out for any announcements!

Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is setting up notifications for devices that stop reporting. For instance, my Zigbee button stopped working because the battery died, and I only found out when my alarm didn’t disable properly. I’ve been looking into ways to get warnings if a device hasn’t reported in a while. If anyone has tips on how to set this up, I’d love to hear them!

I also wanted to mention the recent firmware updates from Wyze for their bulbs and thermostats. The new features, like improved connectivity and fan activation delays, are great additions. I’ve updated my devices, and they’re running smoothly now. It’s always nice when manufacturers listen to user feedback and make improvements.

One challenge I faced was grounding the antenna for my nRF54L15 module. I followed the reference layout, but I wasn’t entirely sure about the grounding under the antenna. After some research and reaching out to the community, I figured it out. It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference in performance!

Overall, integrating these devices has been a rewarding experience. I’ve learned a lot, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the ecosystem evolves. If you have any questions or tips, feel free to share them in the comments below! Happy automating!
