Integrating Wyze Cam and Shelly 1PM for Smart Home Automation

I’ve been on a journey to integrate various smart home devices, and I’d love to share my experiences and tips with the community. Recently, I’ve been experimenting with the Wyze Cam v2 and the Shelly 1PM to create a seamless automation setup. Let me walk you through my setup and some challenges I encountered along the way.

First, I wanted to use the Wyze Cam v2 for live monitoring, but I noticed that after an update, my phone screen would go to sleep while watching the live feed. This was a bit frustrating because I used to be able to watch indefinitely without any issues. After some research, I found out that the auto-keep-alive feature might have been disabled in the update. I reached out to the community and discovered that enabling certain settings or using external apps could help maintain the live feed without the screen going to sleep. It’s a minor inconvenience, but it’s good to know there are workarounds!

On the other hand, I’ve been absolutely thrilled with the Shelly 1PM. I use it to control my water heater and heated floors, and it’s been a game-changer for optimizing energy usage. The ability to program it to run during off-peak hours when electricity prices are lowest has saved me a significant amount on my bills. I’ve been looking into ways to automate the selection of the cheapest hours without manually adjusting the schedule every day. I came across some ideas about integrating electricity price data through synthetic sensors, but I’m still exploring how feasible this is. If anyone has experience with similar setups, I’d love to hear your insights!

One thing I’ve learned through this process is the importance of community support. Whether it’s troubleshooting device compatibility or finding creative automation solutions, the collective knowledge here is invaluable. I encourage everyone to share their experiences, tips, and even the occasional hiccup because it’s through these exchanges that we all grow and improve our smart home setups.

Let’s keep the conversation going! If you’ve got questions, tricks, or just want to share your latest project, I’m all ears. Happy automating everyone!
