Integrating Wyze Cameras with tinyCam Pro for Motion Alerts

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of home automation lately and wanted to share my experience with integrating Wyze cameras into my setup using tinyCam Pro. It’s been a fantastic journey, and I thought I’d walk through how I got everything up and running smoothly.

First off, I wanted to set up motion alerts from my Wyze cameras. I’ve heard great things about tinyCam Pro, so I decided to give it a shot. I installed it on an old Android tablet I had lying around, which worked out perfectly. The setup process was pretty straightforward, and I appreciated the option to have it run on boot—super handy for reliability!

Here’s a quick breakdown of how I got everything working:

  1. Adding Cameras: The first step was adding my Wyze cameras to tinyCam Pro. It was as simple as entering my Wyze account details, and voilà, my cameras were all set up!

  2. Motion Detection: Once the cameras were added, I moved on to configuring motion detection. TinyCam Pro has some great settings here. I enabled in-app motion detection and set up a webhook to send alerts to my Hubitat ecosystem. This part was a bit of a learning curve, but the documentation helped me out.

  3. Integration with Hubitat: To get the alerts into Hubitat, I used the Rule Machine. I created a new rule with a trigger based on the local endpoint URL from tinyCam. From there, I set up actions to notify me via Pushover whenever motion was detected. It’s been working like a charm!

One thing I found a bit tricky was figuring out the exact settings for motion sensitivity. I had to experiment a bit to get it just right—too sensitive and I’d be getting false alerts, too insensitive and I’d miss actual activity. But with a bit of tweaking, it’s now spot on!

I’d love to hear from others who’ve gone through a similar setup. Have you integrated Wyze cameras with tinyCam Pro? What tips or tricks do you have to share? I’m also curious if anyone has tried combining this setup with other automation rules. The possibilities seem endless, and I’m excited to explore more!

Thanks for reading, and happy automating! :rocket:
