Integrating Zonoff and Shelly Devices for a Seamless Smart Home Experience

I’ve been on an exciting journey integrating various smart home devices, and I’d love to share my experiences and ask for advice from the community. My setup includes a mix of Zonoff and Shelly devices, and while most things are working smoothly, there are a few challenges I’m trying to overcome.

First, let me share what’s working. I’ve successfully integrated several Zonoff Mini Zigbee switches using Zigbee2MQTT, and they’re performing exceptionally well. The integration process was straightforward, and the devices are reliable. However, I have a separate building on my property where Zigbee coverage is inconsistent. To address this, I decided to try Zonoff Mini Wifi switches. Initially, I was frustrated because I couldn’t get them to work with SonoffLAN. After some research, I found that using the eWeLink addon allowed me to connect the switches to Home Assistant. While this solution works, I’m concerned about relying on third-party cloud services. I’d prefer a more direct integration, but I’m not entirely sure how to achieve this without additional hardware or firmware changes.

On the Shelly front, I’ve been impressed with their products. I recently set up a Shelly EM, but unfortunately, it’s not communicating properly. I’ve tried resetting it multiple times, but the red light remains on, and I can’t access the device’s network. This has been a bit of a setback, but I’m hopeful that with some troubleshooting, I can get it up and running. I’d love to hear if anyone else has encountered similar issues or has tips for resolving them.

Another area I’m exploring is the integration of Matter devices. With the recent renaming of the Zigbee Alliance to the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) and the introduction of Matter, I’m eager to see how this will enhance compatibility and streamline my smart home setup. I’m particularly interested in how Matter will work with existing devices and what steps I need to take to future-proof my system.

If anyone out there has experience with these devices or can offer advice on optimizing my setup, I’d be incredibly grateful. Let’s keep the discussion going and help each other navigate the ever-evolving world of smart home technology!
