In building my smart home, I am trying my best to make sure that people who are not tech savvy, who do not have a smart phone or tablet, or who are visiting can still use everything in the home, and preferably without even realizing that it is a smart home.
What are the best ways you’ve used Aqara products to achieve this level of smart home (can be automations, product usage, etc.)?
For light switches, I really recommend the t1 single switch. Installed one this weekend and just ordered 4 more. This way other people can just use the switch without confusing your automations. I’m still busy programming and want to keep it as simple as possible because my girlfriend is not really that digital
To make my lights smart, I use Aqara smart light switches. They let me control my lights remotely while still allowing people to physically press the on and off buttons.
Yes! Light switches were my first smart home product and the fact that anyone can use them and I can still manage them remotely and with automations is what is guiding my approach to ALL smart home products I purchase. If it doesn’t work for everyone, then I don’t buy it.
Agreed, light switches are the perfect example of this.
I also have the U100 door lock. My 8 year old can use her fingerprint, I can create a code for visitors to use, we can use a physical key. It’s another perfect example of a smart device that works for everyone.
