Issue connecting any Aqara hub to SmartThings

Hi all,

I’m having trouble connecting any of the Aqara hubs (E1, M100, M2) to the SmartThings V3 hub. I’ve updated the firmware on all the apps and hardware, I’ve cycled through power, and checked my internet connection (though I may not have ipv6).

Interestingly enough, I have connected matter products directly to the SmartThings hub without any issues. However, whenever I generate a matter QR code from any of the Aqara hubs, it either gets stuck on “prepare your device” or gives me error code 39-101.

I’m not sure where the bottleneck is as I’d like to bring the Child Devices from Aqara and integrate it within SmartThings.

Thanks!

@kinting_leong It sounds like you’re running into some tricky Matter connection issues between your Aqara hubs and SmartThings V3—let’s try to troubleshoot this step by step!

First, you mentioned you “may not have IPv6” in your network, which could be a key factor. According to Aqara’s Matter setup requirements, IPv6 support is necessary for adding Matter devices. If your router isn’t enabled with IPv6, that might be causing the QR code pairing to get stuck or throw errors like 39-101. I’d recommend checking your router settings to ensure IPv6 is turned on, then restarting the router to refresh the network.

Additionally, even though you updated firmware, double-check that your Aqara hubs (E1, M100, M2) have the latest firmware installed. Outdated hub firmware can sometimes interfere with Matter pairing—this is a common fix for connection hiccups.

Since you’ve already connected other Matter devices directly to SmartThings without issues, the problem might be specific to how Aqara hubs interact with SmartThings as Matter controllers. If the above steps don’t resolve it, reaching out to support would be the next best move.
