Issue using Aqara H2 EU (Thread/Matter) wireless buttons with Google Home - Has anyone succeeded without an Aqara Hub?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice regarding the Aqara H2 EU Shutter Switch.
I have integrated the device directly into Google Home via Matter over Thread using my new Google Home Speaker as a Thread Border Router. The shutter control works perfectly.
However, I am having trouble using the two extra buttons on the side (the “wireless buttons”) to trigger automations in Google Home.
I can see the buttons in the Google Home app as separate devices.
I have tried setting up “Home Automations” (e.g., When button is pressed → Turn on light).
Even though the setup looks correct in the app, the buttons simply do not trigger the assigned actions.
I do not own an Aqara Hub. Is there anyone here who has successfully managed to use these side buttons as triggers for Google Home automations without the Aqara Hub?
If so, what am I missing? Is it a limitation of the current Matter implementation (e.g., Google Home not recognizing the “press” event correctly), or is there a specific trick to configure these buttons?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

What Google Home version do you have? This is supported on the latest beta and works for all my other devices that expose one of the switch clusters as a generic matter switch.
