I just purchased a bunch of smart home stuff to start setting up our new house with Home Assistant. I purchased the Hub M3 for Zigbee/Matter devices and wanted to go with a lot of Aqara items as I’d heard they’re good and figured integration would be easier. However, I’ve been having a horrible time trying to pair the Door and Window sensors (not T1 or P2, just the 3-bundle from Amazon). The water sensors took a while but finally paired and seem to be staying connected. The Door and Window sensors, though, refuse to work. I FINALLY got one of the three to pair, but it wouldn’t update when the door was opened or closed, didn’t seem to actually be doing anything in the app, and finally now says it’s offline. I can’t even get the other two to pair.
Are these things just bad tech? Am I doing something wrong? Does anybody have experience with these and how to get them functioning properly in the Aqara app? I’m seriously considering returning them and getting a different brand for sensors now.

I have 20+ of the 3-pack Aqara door/window sensors installed throughout my house and have never had an issue with any of them. I did learn early on to pair them next to the M3 hub first and then placing them.
Do you have them paired as Thread or Zigbee mode? I use Zigbee protocol on all of mine as the zigbee mesh network helps to keep them connected in rooms that are further away from my M3.
Once placed, run the range test: single-press reset at that spot, hub should give a voice prompt confirming it can hear the sensor. No prompt = out of range or blocked.
