Hey family,I just purchased a G100 camera. My idea is to set it up via HomeKit to monitor my sons room,Basically use it as a baby monitor/security camera.im excited because I’ve been eying this product for a while now while debating between getting the E1 instead.Since I mostly operate my smart home on HomeKit,I figured it would be best to get the G100 instead.Using HomeKit I know I lose a lot of the features The Aqara app offers but again,My preferred app is HomeKit.Any tips or ideas anyone may have regarding this model?
@LLGuapo Welcome to the Aqara family with your new G100! Using it via HomeKit for your son’s room sounds like a great fit—let me share some handy insights.
First off, the G100 plays nice with HomeKit, supporting seamless streaming and even HomeKit Secure Video, which is perfect for keeping an eye on your little one. For baby monitoring, its 3MP resolution and 140° diagonal wide-angle lens should give you a clear, wide view of the room, so you won’t miss a thing. Night vision is a standout too: it switches between black-and-white (with 6 non-red 940nm infrared fill lights) and full-color modes (when the visible light fill light is on), so you can check in without harsh brightness disturbing sleep.
Since you’re sticking to HomeKit, you might skip some Aqara app-exclusive features, but the core monitoring tools should work smoothly. Have you considered setting up motion detection alerts through HomeKit, or maybe pairing it with a smart light for low-light visibility? It’d be great to hear how it goes once you’re set up—feel free to share your experience or any snags you hit!
