KNX Integration Stability Issues and Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, I’m reaching out regarding some challenges I’ve been facing with the KNX integration in Home Assistant. I’ve been using KNX for quite some time now, and while it’s been a reliable system, I’ve recently encountered some instability issues that have been a bit perplexing.

The setup involves a MDT IP Router acting as the KNX/IP interface, connected to my Home Assistant instance. The issue I’m experiencing is that the connection between HA and the MDT Router becomes unstable after some time. Initially, everything works smoothly—devices respond, and the integration functions as expected. However, after a varying period—sometimes days, sometimes just minutes—the connection drops, and the MDT Router becomes unresponsive, even on its HTTP page.

I’ve gone through several troubleshooting steps, including software updates on the MDT Router, VLAN configurations, and adjusting IGMP Snooping settings. Despite these efforts, the problem persists. It’s frustrating because the setup was stable for a long time, and pinpointing the exact cause has been challenging.

One observation I’ve made is that multicast seems to play a role in the instability. In the past, I had issues with a MagentaTV box using IPTV over multicast, which also exhibited instability. This makes me wonder if there’s a broader issue with multicast handling on my Omada network. However, I’m not entirely sure if this is directly related to the KNX integration problem.

The KNX configuration itself is pretty standard: Tunneling over TCP, with a specific multicast group and port configured. The integration logs don’t show any immediate errors, which makes diagnosing the issue even more difficult. I’ve included some diagnostic information below for reference, but I’m hoping the community might have some insights or suggestions.

If anyone has experienced similar issues or has successfully resolved them, I’d greatly appreciate any guidance or troubleshooting tips. It would be fantastic to get this sorted out once and for all, as KNX is a crucial part of my smart home setup.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,
Daxi
