Place an Aqara Water Leak Sensor near your washing machine, dishwasher, or under sinks. Set an automation so that if water is detected, you immediately get a push notification on your phone. You can also trigger a smart plug to cut power to the appliance automatically. This helps prevent water damage and gives you peace of mind even when you’re away from home.

I have mine to turn certain lights to red when an alarm is triggered as well as alert on phone.

Even better, you could visit your upstairs neighbors (if any) and convince them to install sensors and an Aqara Valve Controller T1 in their apartment. That way, you won’t flood anyone, and no one will flood you either.
