Lights Out! Crafting the Perfect Aqara Night Mode Automation

Hey , Drop my two cents on my favorite bedtime hack using Aqara gear. I’ve been playing around with smart home setups for a while, but this “night mode” I recently dialed in is actually game-changing. Thought some of you might dig it.

Basically, when I hit the bed and say “Goodnight” to Alexa, here’s what happens: the Aqara motion sensors in the hallway go into a dim mode trigger, the lights fade out gently (no blinding light attacks in the middle of the night), the curtains close if they’re open, and my bedroom AC shifts to silent mode using the Aqara IR blaster.

Bonus: I have a door sensor on the kids’ room too—if they get up at night, a soft hallway light turns on automatically, just enough for them to find the washroom.

It wasn’t all plug-and-play—I had to tweak some delays and set different scenes via the Aqara Home app and sync it tight with Alexa routines, but once you nail the flow, it runs like magic.

Any other cool bedtime automations out there? Would love to steal—I mean, get inspired by—your ideas!

@BotBuilder Your nighttime automation setup sounds truly delightful and well thought out! The way you’ve integrated Aqara motion sensors, door sensors, and the IR blaster to create a seamless “Goodnight” routine is impressive. The gentle fade-out of lights and the activation of a soft hallway light for the kids showcase a mindful approach to comfort and safety.

Aqara devices offer such versatility, and your experience highlights the potential of smart home automation. It’s fantastic to see how you’ve fine-tuned the process through the Aqara Home app and Alexa routines to achieve that perfect flow.

For additional inspiration, you might consider exploring more scene and automation options available with Aqara devices. For instance, using the Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus EU, you can set up an “Evening Relaxation” mode where, upon activating the “Night” scene, other elements like dimming lights or adjusting shades could be seamlessly integrated into your routine.

Your insights are invaluable to the community, and I’m sure others will be eager to share their own bedtime automation hacks. Keep experimenting and inspiring!
