I don’t intend to get any of Aqara’s hubs as I already have a zigbee coordinator running Z2M. In this setup, is it possible to take advantage of its individual addressing feature?
Looking at the code in Zigbee2MQTT it’s not possible at the moment, only 1 colour can be set. I have code for that feature working on the T1M Ceiling Light which would could probably be refactored for the T1 Strip but I don’t have a T1 strip to test it. The main issue would be how to handle custom segment counts for joined and cut strips, I’d need to test it.
I’ve just bought a T1 strip on a Black Friday deal. I’ll get the individual segment colour addressing working in Z2M, I’m assuming it’ll be similar to the RGB ring on the T1M seeing as that’s basically an Aqara LED strip stuck round a frame.
It’ll be good to the routines for RGB effect control working across all the Aqara lights before it goes into the main Z2M code base.
Please update this thread when you get that working.
I got the T1 Strip today. Doing initial packet captures on it, it shares a lot of it’s functionality with the T1M light and T2 bulbs so I’m not starting from scratch. I’ve got an initial version of a Z2M converter with individual segment control for static lighting and segment control on the dynamic effects. There’ll be some kinks to work out and things to get working better, but it’s definitely doable.
Just merged the converter into Z2M, all the T1 Strip features will be supported in the 2.7.2 January release.
