Looking for a Discreet Alert System for Basement Flood Detection

Hey everyone, I’m reaching out to see if anyone has recommendations for a more subtle alert system for my basement flood detection. I recently had a minor flood in my basement due to a malfunctioning sump pump, and while my water sensor detected it, the only option I had was to trigger a loud siren. This got me thinking—what if I want a less obtrusive way to alert myself and my family without causing unnecessary panic or attention from outside?

I’ve been using Z-Wave devices for a while now, and I love how they integrate seamlessly into my smart home setup. I’ve considered using Z-Wave curtain modules paired with a doorbell, but I’m hoping there might be a more elegant solution out there. I came across a few devices that offer different tones or even visual alerts, but most of them are either too expensive or still too loud for my liking.

I’m curious if anyone has had success with something like a flashing light or a moderate-tone alert that can be tied into their existing Z-Wave setup. I also wonder if there’s a way to integrate this with my existing security system or maybe even use a smart speaker with a specific alert sound. I’d love to hear if anyone has tackled a similar issue or has any creative solutions they’ve implemented.

On a related note, I’ve also been experimenting with Z-Wave switches and doorbells to see if I can create a makeshift alert system. It’s been an interesting learning experience, but I’m not quite there yet. I’d appreciate any insights or recommendations from the community!

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions. I’m really looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say!
