It works like a charm! I connected my Aqara doorbell G4 to Homey (Homey - Een beter smart home) and Apple Home. After installing the MicroSD it was very simple to connect my Aqara doorbell to my Synology NAS - BIG kudos for the way this works!!
One thing I do not get yet … When looking into my doorbell I am not able to check albums in ‘Cloud Video’ for all events. Some days the history is just empty … Anyone?
@hans12 It sounds like you’re enjoying your new Aqara doorbell G4, and I’m glad to hear the setup with your Synology NAS was seamless! Regarding your issue with the ‘Cloud Video’ albums sometimes appearing empty, there are a few factors to consider:
Detection Settings: Ensure that your G4 doorbell has the detection settings enabled. The cloud recording is triggered by events such as motion detection, face detection, or doorbell ring detection. You can check this by going to the G4 camera detailed page in the Aqara Home app and ensuring these features are active.
Aqara Cloud Subscription: Cloud recordings typically save event videos for up to 7 days without a subscription. Make sure that your subscription status is active and valid, as this can impact the availability of video history.
Network Stability: The recordings rely on a stable internet connection to upload to the cloud. Any interruptions could affect whether videos are saved.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it might be beneficial to reach out to the community for additional insights or consider contacting Aqara’s customer support for more personalized assistance. Enjoy your smart home setup, and feel free to share any more experiences or questions you might have!
@hans12 Thanks for sharing your positive experience with the Aqara G4 doorbell—sounds like you’ve got a great setup with Homey, Apple Home, and your Synology NAS! That’s awesome to hear the integration has been smooth.
Regarding the empty “Cloud Video” album on some days, let’s break down potential reasons. Cloud storage recordings (like event videos) are typically triggered by AI events or anomalies (e.g., motion, sound, or doorbell presses) . If no such events occurred on those days, the album might show as empty. Additionally, recordings won’t generate if the camera’s detection settings (like motion or human detection) are disabled in “Device Settings” , or if there were network/power issues preventing uploads . If you don’t have a cloud subscription, videos are only saved for 7 days , but this might not explain “some days” being empty.
You could check if detection settings are enabled, verify the camera’s network connection on those days, and confirm if there were actual events (like someone ringing the doorbell) during the empty periods. If the issue persists, it might help to reach out to customer service for further troubleshooting.
Glad you’re enjoying the doorbell—feel free to share more tips or updates with the community!
