I’ve recently switched my home setup to Home Assistant to have a centralized backend for all my smart home devices - and hopefully to get rid of some hubs in the future ![]()
Of course, not everything was straightforward, but I managed to connect most of my Aqara devices. Some of them had to be removed from HomeKit and added directly into Home Assistant first, and then re-exposed to HomeKit via the HomeKit Bridge. Others worked out of the box once I integrated the Aqara M3 Hub. Some devices, like my E1 indoor camera, are unfortunately useless in HA - the preview doesn’t work properly, so I can’t use it in automations.
My M3 Hub is now connected, and while some features are available and working (e.g the built-in Hub security system is exposed and works just fine), not everything seems to be exposed. I haven’t found a way to access the IR blaster or speaker directly. It seems like the only workaround I’ve found for the IR is to create scenes in the Aqara app, which can then be exposed to Home Assistant as switches. The same kind of workaround applies to the speaker while playing specific sounds.
Is there any better way to expose the IR blaster and speaker functionality in Home Assistant?
And is there an official changelog or compatibility list from Aqara that outlines what features are currently supported in Home Assistant, or any news about upcoming improvements?
