With M3, M100, and M200 in the same home, the hardest part of adding another Matter bridge is often not pairing—it is proving which Apple Home tile belongs to which path. Before exposing another hub, I keep a small identity map for every test accessory:
- physical label and room
- Aqara device name and parent hub
- Zigbee or Thread/Matter
- Apple Home name and room
- exposure path: Aqara HomeKit bridge, Aqara Matter bridge, or native Matter
- serial number or last four digits when visible
I then add only one noncritical accessory, rename it immediately with a temporary suffix such as “-M3-Matter,” and test status and control from both apps. If a duplicate appears, I compare the paths before deleting anything. After the mapping is stable, I remove the suffixes and continue in small batches.
This makes it easier to distinguish a true duplicate from two different functions of one device, and reduces the risk of deleting the wrong accessory or breaking automations. What fields do you record when migrating between Aqara hubs or HomeKit/Matter exposure paths?
