Hi,
What verison of Matter does aqara support?
i have a G5 Pro, G410 and G100.
Do you mean which devices the Hub supports as a Matter controller?
Aqara Home supports a wide range of Matter device types. You can find the full list here: Aqara Supported Matter Device Type List.
The list includes device types introduced in various Matter specification versions, including Matter 1.0 and 1.1 (such as smart plugs and lighting), Matter 1.2 (such as robot vacuums and smoke and CO alarms), Matter 1.3 (such as water leak detectors and rain sensors), and Matter 1.4 (such as solar power systems, battery storage, and heat pumps).
Furthermore, devices like the Aqara G350 are now implementing the Matter 1.5 standard, being the world’s first native Matter-certified camera.
Whilst @JohnD is technically correct. You have to understand what you are trying to do.
e.g. The M3 supports various devices that are in Matter 1.3, but does not support all clusters when acting as a bridge. e.g. it does not support the power cluster.
My Aqara G5 Pro Camera Hub currently registers in Home Assistant as a Matter bridge using version 1.5.1. For my Smart Plug EU, the integration interface clearly indicates active support for the ElectricalPowerMeasurement ClusterId 144 (0x0090), the ElectricalEnergyMeasurement ClusterId 145 (0x0091), and the PowerTopology ClusterId 156 (0x009C).
Furthermore, my Matter over Wi-Fi smart plugs from TP-Link connected to the G5 Pro functioning as a Matter controller also show these three clusters in the Aqara Home app.
I find it hard to imagine that the G5 Pro handles this differently or better than the M3 Hub. Have you installed the latest firmware on your hub?
Hi @JohnD ,
indeed I am using the latest firmware.
I tried my H2 UK outlet with the M3 in zigbee mode as the H2 does not report each socket in Matter mode. When I used the M3 it did not export any information with regard to power.
interesting that you say that your G5 pro is supporting Matter 1.5.1, because to do that you need to be running Thread 1.4.2 (Certainly 1.4). When I look at my G5 Pro it is running Thread 1.3, which means it can’t be running Matter 1.5.1
Hmm. That’s strange.
I just took a quick look at the specs for the Wall Outlet H2 UK:
I can’t find any further information about the Power Plug H2 UK.
It definitely works with the Power Plug H2 EU.
So, Matter version 1.5.1 is displayed as such for the Bridge in Home Assistant within the Matter Server app, and the connection between the hub and HA is established via LAN instead of Thread.
HA for my M3 also says Matter 1.5.1, and that is possible as it is running Thread 1.4.
However, when I use Thread Doctor it shows my G5 is running Thread 1.3… however, I’m not running it via Matter, I’m running it via HomeKit as I wanted the camera to appear in Apple Home… I refuse to go via HA to AH unless it is the only option.
Still, my G5 is running as a Thread Border Router.
Oh, and if you run the Uk H2 Outlet via Zigbee it show individual sockets inside the M3. The M3 does not export the power cluster. I tried.
What does Thread have to do with the Matter Bridge?
Zigbee devices are bridged by the hub’s firmware to Matter. The G5 Pro hub connects to Home Assistant via LAN or Wi-Fi.
You stated that the G5 Pro is running Matter V1.5.1. Part of Matter 1.5.1 is that you must be running Thread V1.4.x.
The G5 Pro is also TBR, but it is running Thread 1.3.
I don’t see how that would work.
That might indeed be true for the certification of the Matter Controller with Thread Border Router, but it will not run on version 1.5.1 on the G5 Pro, nor will it be certified for it. I would also not be so sure that the controller on the M3 Hub runs on 1.5.1.
The fact that the Matter Bridge reports version 1.5.1 is technically probably just a piece of software within the firmware that translates the Zigbee functions into Matter clusters. And presumably, the exact same code is implemented in the G5 Pro as in the M3 Hub. At least that can be assumed, since the firmware versioning for both hubs seems to be the same or similar. And the developers at Aqara will not reinvent the wheel. This does not prove whether a certification for Matter 1.5.1 actually exists.
