Hey everyone, just wanted to share a little story from my smart home journey with Aqara’s door/window sensors. I’ve been using these little guys for over a year now and honestly, they’ve become one of my favorite parts of the setup. I’m just a regular user, not super tech-savvy or anything, but I’ve picked up a few tricks along the way.
At first, I just slapped them on the front and back doors to get notifications when someone came in or out. Basic stuff. But then I started getting creative. Now I’ve got one on my mailbox so I get pinged when the mail arrives (no more useless trips). I also put one on the fridge—turns out it’s a great way to catch those late-night snackers (aka my teenage son 
).
Battery life? Way better than I expected. Most of mine are still going on the original cell after 13+ months, which is wild considering how many triggers they go through daily. I learned that placing them properly and avoiding extreme temperatures really helps with that.
Also paired them with automation through HomeKit and it’s made things even better. Like, when the front door opens after 5 PM, the hallway lights auto-turn on. Small thing, but super satisfying.
