Maximizing Solar Energy with Homey: A Positive Experience

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my positive experience with using Homey to optimize my solar energy production. As many of you know, negative energy prices can sometimes make it challenging to manage solar output effectively. However, I found a great solution that not only helps reduce production during peak times but also integrates seamlessly with my Homey setup.

After researching various options, I came across the Solaredge+Growatt modbus app. It turned out to be a fantastic tool for managing my solar panels. The setup process was straightforward: I followed the instructions in the forum thread to activate Modbus on my Solaredge account and link it to the app. Now, I can easily adjust the power delivery from my panels, even shutting them down completely if needed. This has been a game-changer for managing energy costs during periods of negative pricing.

For those using Enphase panels, I also explored some hardware solutions. By modifying the DRM port and using a Shelly Plus 1 Mini, I can now control the panels directly from Homey. While this setup only allows me to shut down the panels rather than adjust power output, it’s still a reliable method for managing energy production during off-peak hours.

I’m truly impressed with how Homey has allowed me to integrate these solutions into my smart home ecosystem. It’s satisfying to see everything working together smoothly, and I’m excited to continue exploring new ways to optimize my energy usage. If anyone has questions or needs help setting up something similar, feel free to reach out!

Cheers, and happy automating!
