Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts!
I’m considering making the switch from Iris to Hubitat and I’m eager to hear your experiences and advice. I’ve been using Iris for quite some time now, primarily for security automation, including away mode activation via a fob, contact sensors, camera monitoring, motion detection, and Schlage locks. I’ve also utilized it for home automation tasks like thermostat scheduling and real-time adjustments, as well as safety monitoring with smoke, CO, and water sensors.
While Iris has been reliable, I’m intrigued by Hubitat’s potential for more customized automation and the flexibility of its mobile app. I’m particularly interested in how smoothly the transition might be, especially regarding push notifications, remote thermostat control, and presence-based automation (like adjusting lights or locks when I arrive or leave).
I’m also curious about the learning curve—will it be manageable for someone with a decent tech background but not a developer? And, a fun bonus: can I finally set my kitchen lights to 1% brightness at night instead of being stuck at 10%? ![]()
Any insights or tips from those who have made the switch would be invaluable! Thanks in advance for your help and sharing your experiences. ![]()
