After much anticipation, I’ve finally completed the migration of my ISY994 Pro system to the eisy platform. The process was mostly smooth, though there were a few unexpected bumps along the way. I wanted to share my experience in case it can help others who are considering making the switch.
One of the first things I noticed was the ease of the migration process itself. The tools provided by UDI made it relatively straightforward to transfer my existing setup. However, I did run into an interesting issue where several of my Insteon devices required a manual settings restore after the migration. It was a bit puzzling since there didn’t seem to be a pattern among the devices that needed this extra step. Regardless, once everything was back up and running, the system performed beautifully.
I’m particularly impressed with the Ambient Weather plugin integration, though I’m still waiting for the data to fully populate. It’s a feature I’ve been wanting to utilize for quite some time, and it’s exciting to see it coming together.
On a more personal note, decommissioning my ISY994 Pro was a bit bittersweet. It’s been a reliable workhorse for years, and while I’m thrilled with the upgrade to eisy, I can’t help but feel a small sense of loss. That said, I’m confident that the eisy platform will continue to serve me well for years to come.
A huge thank you to the UDI team, especially Michael, for their invaluable support throughout this process. Their dedication to providing excellent customer service truly sets them apart.
If anyone has questions about migrating to eisy or just wants to chat about their own experiences, feel free to reach out! I’d be happy to share more details or help troubleshoot any issues you might encounter.
