I recently made the switch from Domoticz to Home Assistant and wanted to share my experience, especially regarding the migration of historical sensor data. For years, I’ve relied on Domoticz to collect data from various weather and power sensors, and the thought of losing all that historical information was daunting.
I decided to take the plunge and migrate my sensors to Home Assistant, but I was unsure about how to handle the historical data. After some research, I discovered that while Home Assistant doesn’t natively support importing historical data from Domoticz, there are workarounds. One approach involves exporting the data from Domoticz and using tools or scripts to import it into Home Assistant’s database.
The process was a bit involved, but it was worth it to have all my data in one place. I ended up using a combination of Domoticz’s built-in export features and some custom scripts to transfer the data. I’m now able to view historical trends seamlessly in Home Assistant, which has been incredibly helpful for monitoring energy usage and weather patterns.
If anyone else is considering making the switch, I highly recommend exploring these options. It might take some time, but the benefits of having all your data consolidated are well worth the effort. Happy migrating!
