Hey Aqara friends and fellow smart-home tinkerer-heroes,
I’m a huge fan of the Wireless Mini Switches. They’re super handy, and I use them all over the house. But their integration with Home Assistant through Matter feels a bit… let’s say “minimalist.”
In HA I can see the button presses — single, double, long press — but I can’t actually use them as triggers for automations. The only event I can select is a battery level change. And unless someone in my house spends the whole day pressing that switch really aggressively, that event isn’t all that useful.
The switches are connected via an Aqara Hub through Matter. When I pair the same switch via Zigbee, all events magically appear and I can use everything as expected.
But with a large home, setting up a second Zigbee network with enough routers (outlets, lamps, etc.) just to catch the signal from a single switch doesn’t feel super elegant.
So… am I doing something wrong? Or are these Mini Switches just a bit “incomplete” when it comes to Matter support in Home Assistant?
Anyone here found a way to use all Mini Switch events over Matter as automation triggers in HA?
