Mixing Zigbee Devices and Automating Smart Home

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I must say, it’s been a fascinating journey! One thing that’s always intrigued me is the ability to mix and match devices from different brands, all communicating over the same Zigbee protocol. I started with some Philips Hue lights, and they’ve been working beautifully with my existing setup. But the real challenge came when I wanted to integrate devices from other manufacturers like Xiaomi Yeelight and IKEA Tradfri. I was curious to see if my Philips Hue remote could control these devices or if I’d need to invest in additional switches. Turns out, while the protocol is the same, each vendor has its own way of handling things, which makes for some interesting troubleshooting but also a lot of flexibility once everything is set up!

Another area I’ve been exploring is automation. I came across a fantastic blueprint for automatically calibrating Zigbee covers, which has been a lifesaver. It uses a mobile app integration to send notifications and guide the calibration process, which is much simpler than manually calculating open/close times. This has made managing my smart blinds so much easier, especially with multiple covers in my home.

I’d love to hear from others who’ve successfully mixed different Zigbee devices and how they handle automation. Any tips or experiences to share would be greatly appreciated! :rocket:
