Morning Automation Challenges with Heating

Hello everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation for about a year now, and I’m absolutely loving the possibilities it brings. My current project is setting up a seamless morning routine for my home office, and while I’ve made some progress, I’m hitting a snag that I could really use some help with. Let me walk you through what I’m trying to achieve and where I’m stuck.I work in a home office and have a flexible schedule, often starting between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM. My goal is to have the heating in my living room activate automatically when I’m present and my laptop is on. If I’m not around, it should stay off to save energy. The automation should check every 15 minutes until 9:00 AM to see if I’m there and if my laptop is active. Only then should the heating kick in.I’ve managed to set up the presence detection and laptop status part, but the 15-minute interval check is proving to be a hurdle. I’ve tried a few different approaches, but nothing seems to work as intended. I’m also curious about the Standard option in the new automation editor in Home Assistant. I’ve heard it’s more powerful, but I’m not entirely sure how it differs from the other options available. If someone could shed some light on that, it would be a huge help! One thing I’m particularly excited about is the improved When/Then functionality in the latest version of Home Assistant. It’s making automation setup so much more intuitive, and I can’t wait to explore its full potential. However, this specific heating automation is still eluding me, and I’d love to hear if anyone has tackled a similar challenge or has some tips to share.I’m also wondering if there are any best practices or common pitfalls I should be aware of when setting up such routines. Automation can be tricky, especially when dealing with timing and conditions, so any advice would be invaluable. Thanks in advance to everyone who takes the time to read through this and offer their insights—I really appreciate it!
