Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience setting up an automation for my morning routine. The goal was to have the news automatically play when I wake up, and I decided to use Chromecast and my Shield TV for this.
Initially, I was a bit overwhelmed figuring out how to get Chromecast to work with Hulu Live. I tried a few methods, but authentication issues kept popping up. Then, I remembered my Shield TV in the bedroom. After some research, I found that I could use ADB commands to control it!
Here’s what I did: I set up a simple script to send ADB commands to the Shield TV, opening Hulu and navigating to Live TV. Once that was working, I integrated it into my existing morning routine, which already controls the lights and other switches.
The best part? Now I don’t have to manually start the news every morning. It’s a small thing, but it really adds to the convenience of having a smart home. If anyone has tips or alternative methods, I’d love to hear them!
