Hey everyone, I wanted to share my success story with automating my mosquito mister system. After spending countless hours researching and tweaking, I finally got everything to work perfectly! ![]()
I’ve been dealing with mosquitoes in my backyard for years, and this system has been a game-changer. Here’s how I did it:
-
Setup: I integrated my mosquito mister with Home Assistant using a custom automation script. The goal was to have it run at specific times and under certain weather conditions.
-
Weather Integration: I linked it to a weather sensor to check wind speed and precipitation. If it’s too windy or raining, the system automatically skips its scheduled runs.
-
Timing: I set it up to run in three different modes:
- Morning: 15 seconds on, 15 minutes off for 3 hours after sunrise.
- Afternoon: 15 seconds on, 15 minutes off every two hours for six hours starting at 11 AM.
- Evening: 15 seconds on, 15 minutes off for 2.5 hours starting at 5:01 PM.
- Testing: The first few weeks were all about tweaking the timings and ensuring the weather conditions worked as intended. It was a bit frustrating when things didn’t work perfectly, but I kept at it!
Now, I have a fully automated system that keeps mosquitoes at bay without any manual intervention. It’s been running smoothly for weeks, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! ![]()
