My Aqara Match Day Routine + SPA - ARG prediction

FootballFever :soccer:

I usually watch football with a few automations running in the background. Nothing too crazy, but they make the experience much nicer.

About 5 minutes before kick-off, my living room lights dim automatically and my LED strip changes to my team’s colors. I also have a scene on my Aqara Mini Switch that turns on the TV and puts the room into “movie mode” with a single press.

During halftime I bring the lights back up a bit so it’s easier to grab a drink or snacks, then one press puts everything back for the second half.

It’s a small thing, but I really enjoy using my smart home for events like this instead of only for everyday routines.

For the next match, the final of FIFA WC 2026, Spain vs Argentina, my prediction is 1-1 for the initial 90 minutes. Let’s see if I’m lucky!

@simimy Love this kind of “event mode” automation—exactly where a smart home feels fun instead of just practical.

If you want to take it one step further, a couple ideas that pair nicely with what you’re already doing:

  • “TV on → lights dim” automation: If your TV turning on can be detected (e.g., via a switch module), you can trigger an auto-dim when the match starts, so you don’t even need the button every time. There’s a common pattern: IF TV turns on → THEN dim down the bulb (recommended with Hub M2 + Single Switch Module + Aqara Bulb). • Halftime / snack-lighting with presence: If you’ve got a motion sensor, you can temporarily boost brightness when someone’s moving around, then drop back down after a set “no one for X minutes” window—super hands-free for kitchen/snack runs. Also, the Spain vs Argentina 1–1 call is bold—now you need an automation for “goal celebration lighting” if you’re right. What devices are you using for the LED strip + dimming (bulbs, track lights, or a relay)?
