Having found these Tuya Matter Thread Smart PIR Motion Sensor for around £12 each in a bundle on AliExpress, I thought I’d try them out with my new Aqara M100 hub. They are powered by USB-C and/or 2 lithium cells for a backup if necessary. Functionality is basic PIR motion sensing, no luminescence sensor or MMWave, just plain old PIR
I have been really impressed with the M100 hub, and for a competitive price, I can finally create multiple Thread Border Routers easily and cheaply. Previously I had to rely on expensive Echo or Nest devices, and they had no configurability, so really not a great option. My other OTBR is built into Home Assistant.
They pair and work flawlessly with the M100, and stay connected. These sensors are a little sensitive, so placement is key.
It is nice to see Tuya Thread devices working well with the M100 and Aqara products, and gives me confidence in the M100 for general use.
I have also paired other third-party devices with the M100, such as Onvis Matter Thread smart plugs and Tuya (NEO) Thread door sensors. All have worked absolutely fine.
