Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience setting up Home Assistant on my Raspberry Pi. It’s been an exciting journey, but not without its challenges!
I started with the official tutorial, which was straightforward, but I quickly realized the non-supervised installation was limiting. After some research, I decided to try the supervised version using Docker, which I heard was more robust. However, my excitement turned into confusion when I couldn’t remove the old installation properly. I stopped the service, but localhost::8123 kept throwing errors, and starting it again reverted to the non-supervised version. I felt stuck, but I remembered the community is always helpful.
After some digging, I found a detailed tutorial on installing the supervised version. I followed it step by step, and now I have Docker containers running smoothly. It’s amazing to see everything working as intended! I also learned how to manage Docker containers, which was a bonus.
This experience taught me the importance of thorough research and not being afraid to ask for help. The Home Assistant community is incredible, and I’m grateful for all the resources available. If anyone is struggling with similar issues, don’t hesitate to reach out—I’m happy to share what I’ve learned!
Happy automating everyone! ![]()
