Hey everyone! I’ve been on a bit of a journey setting up my smart home, and I wanted to share some of my experiences in case it helps others.
First off, I’ve been working with the Better Thermostat and Simple Thermostat integration. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m really happy with how it’s coming together. I tried to replicate a setup I saw in a video, but I noticed some missing elements like the ECO button and some UI inconsistencies. After some tweaking, I managed to get it looking and working how I wanted. It’s great to see the humidity levels from my wall thermostat too! I’m curious if others have had similar experiences or if there are any tips to make the integration even smoother.
Another project I’ve been working on is setting up a door sensor for my dog’s room. The goal is to get a reminder if the door is open when I arm the system, but I don’t want it to trigger an alarm if she accidentally nudges it. I’m not entirely sure how to configure this yet, so any advice would be appreciated. It’s been a bit tricky, but I’m hopeful I can get it sorted out.
On the automation front, I’ve been experimenting with light dimming based on temperature. The idea is to have the lights dim slightly when it gets too hot, but I want to ensure they don’t turn off completely. I’ve run into some issues with state conditions, but I’m determined to figure it out. It’s a small touch, but I think it could make a big difference in comfort.
I’d love to hear how others have tackled similar projects or if there are any tools or techniques I might have missed. The community here is amazing, and I’m grateful for all the support and shared knowledge!
Cheers,
