My "Lazy" Apartment is Officially a Genius Home

Okay guys, I just had to share how I’ve turned my boring apartment into a legit smart home showcase using Aqara sensors.

The magic happens with these simple automations:

• The “Secret” Toggle: I hid a Wireless Mini Switch under my desk. One tap toggles my entire PC setup, and a double-tap dims the room for focus mode. No more reaching for five different power strips!

• The Steam Specialist: I put a Temperature and Humidity Sensor in the bathroom. The second it detects a spike from the shower, it triggers the exhaust fan via a smart plug. No more foggy mirrors or damp air!

• The Midnight Snack Guide: I put Door and Window Sensors on my kitchen cabinets. Now, if I open the pantry after 11 PM, the LED strips glow at a dim 10% so I can find my snacks without blinding myself.

The best part? It’s not just fancy—it actually makes life easier. It’s like having a personal assistant that knows exactly what I’m doing before I even do it. No more worrying if I left the heater on or fumbling with remotes.

Anyone else got creative automations to share? I’m always looking for new ideas to level up my setup.

This is awesome. These are the kinds of automations that actually make sense day to day, not just flashy demos. The bathroom humidity trigger and the late-night cabinet lighting are especially smart. Definitely stealing a few of these ideas. Curious what else people are running for “small wins” automations like this.

Hi everyone, in my small study room at home, the Matter Wiz lights turn on when I open the door (door and window sensor), and turn off if the motion and light sensor doesn’t detect any movement for 3 minutes. The interesting thing is, if my Cube T1 is on face number 1 (Cube T1 face up 1, not met face up 1), the light-off automation doesn’t work; it turns off if the other faces are facing upwards. I love the Cube, it’s so clever
