Here is my review for the Doorbell Camera Hub G410. It is a very in depth look at the G410 with a comparison between that, the G4 and the G400.
Aqara G410 Review, 2K Smart Doorbell with Radar Detection, Local Storage and HomeKit
Here is the description for the video:
In this video, I take a very detailed, real world look at the Aqara Doorbell Camera Hub G410, including installation, setup in the Aqara app, Apple HomeKit, Home Assistant, Alexa, local storage, deep settings, and a comparison with the Aqara G4 and G400.
The Aqara G410 is a major upgrade over the older G4 doorbell, adding a wider 175 degree field of view, 2K video, mmWave radar detection, local face recognition, dual band Wi-Fi, Zigbee hub functionality, Thread and Matter support, local microSD recording through the chime, and improved smart home integration.
In this video, I show:
• What comes in the box
• How to remove the old Aqara G4
• Installing the G410
• Wiring the doorbell for permanent power
• Setting up the chime hub
• Adding the G410 to the Aqara app
• G4, G410 and G400 video comparisons
• Adding the G410 to Apple HomeKit
• HomeKit Secure Video setup
• First checks and firmware update
• Full Aqara settings walkthrough
• Local storage and SD card setup
• RTSP and Home Assistant options
• Matter pairing comparison
• Final thoughts after real testing
The G410 can be powered by 6 AA batteries or wired permanently using existing doorbell wiring. I chose to wire mine in, which also unlocks features such as RTSP and 24/7 recording when using local storage.
The chime hub includes a microSD card slot for local recording, supports custom ringtones, and is noticeably louder than the previous Aqara G4 chime. The doorbell also supports local storage, NAS support, HomeKit Secure Video, and Aqara’s HomeGuardian cloud options.
One of the big upgrades is the use of mmWave radar detection, which helps reduce false alerts and allows adjustable detection range between 1 and 5 metres. The G410 also supports local face recognition, which means personal recognition can happen on device rather than relying entirely on the cloud.
The G410 also acts as a smart home hub. It can work as an Aqara Zigbee hub, supports Matter bridging, and can help expose Aqara devices into wider smart home ecosystems. It also supports platforms such as Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and Home Assistant, although some features are still limited by the platform you are using.
For Apple users, the G410 supports Apple HomeKit and HomeKit Secure Video, including two way audio, doorbell notifications, HomePod chimes, face recognition through Apple Home, and recordings through iCloud if you have the correct iCloud plan and Apple Home hub.
For Home Assistant users, I show both the HomeKit device method and the Matter method. At the moment, the HomeKit method exposes more useful entities, while Matter support is still more limited. RTSP is also available when the doorbell is wired, which may be useful for local dashboards and NVR setups.
Aqara kindly sent this doorbell to me for review, but this is not a paid promotion. They had no control over what I say in this video, and all opinions are my own.
If you are looking for a smart video doorbell with 2K video, local storage, HomeKit Secure Video, radar detection, local face recognition, Zigbee hub support, Matter support, Alexa, and Home Assistant options, this video should give you a clear idea of whether the Aqara G410 is right for your home.
