My Smart Home Journey: Lights, Automation, and Fun!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share a bit about my recent experiences with my smart home setup. It’s been an absolute blast exploring all the possibilities, but of course, there have been some bumps along the way. Let me walk you through it!

Starting with the Basics
I began by setting up some basic automation rules to control my lights. Originally, I thought the old rule base wasn’t working correctly, but after recreating them with the new rule base, I still faced the same issue after a couple of days. The timed rules, like my evening lights, simply didn’t fire as they should. I’m on platform version hub-2.2.8.156 C-7. Has anyone else encountered this and found a solution beyond rolling back or restarting every couple of days?

Exploring New Gadgets
I recently picked up a Fibaro Walli roller shutter. The installation was a bit of a challenge, but I managed to pair it with my homey. Now, I’m trying to calibrate it for use in a flow. When I attempt calibration, the shutter closes for about two seconds, then opens and closes again for two seconds. It doesn’t seem to work for longer periods. Does anyone have tips on configuring the parameters to make it work smoothly?

DIY Projects and Fun
On a lighter note, I’ve been diving into some DIY projects inspired by the Govee galaxy theme. It’s amazing how a little creativity can transform spaces, especially during those rainy days here in Bogota. The way Govee integrates lights and music to set the mood is truly unique. I’ve been experimenting with different color schemes and patterns, and it’s been a great way to unwind after a long day.

Challenges and Learning
One of the more frustrating issues I’ve faced is with my Arlo front doorbell camera. After resetting my Wi-Fi network, the garden camera connected without any issues, but the front doorbell just won’t connect, even though I hear the chime sound. I’m hoping someone out there has a fix for this!

Looking Ahead
Despite the occasional hiccups, I’m absolutely loving the journey of building my smart home. Each challenge solved feels like a small victory, and the possibilities are endless. I’m especially excited to explore more automation with my devices and maybe even tackle some more complex DIY projects.

If anyone has tips, tricks, or stories to share, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep the conversation going and make our smart homes even smarter!

Cheers,
