NAS recommendations

I have a G5 Pro PoE and I want to connect it to a small (for home use) NAS or other device to store images for up to two weeks. Does anyone have any recommendations and advice. Thank you.

If you only want to store images (not videos?) or do not want to record fully 24/7 streams for two weeks, I recommend a relative small (and therefore affordable) hard drive or SSD with perhaps 200 GB, better 500 GB capacity, connect for instance directly to your router via USB when the router has an unused USB port available. Make sure both support at least USB 3.0 (or higher like 3.0 Gen2). That would be enough for your described purpose. A dedicated NAS system is of course better, but also more expensive.

sorry I should have been clearer. I want to store the video it captures on motion detection

I believe Aqara cameras even when recording 24/7 they create a new video file when an event is detected. You can see this behavior when you insert an SD card from the camera into your PC.

Personally I use an old Mac Mini (2011) as NAS. You can just enable file sharing in system settings and it will just work (macOS has built in Samba server). And you don’t need a screen, you can use Screen Sharing on another macOS to login into your Mac Mini.

Thank you. I must confess I have always used Windows

Then you could probably repurpose an old laptop if you disable sleep on lid close. I think Windows also has a Samba server built in (though I don’t know how to configure it) and there most certainly is a lot of third party software for that

Secondhand Lenovo ThinkCentres are very popular and quite cheap if you want to expand it from simple storage into a homelab type setup with Frigate/Home Assistant/Arr stack/Plex etc.
