@Sting To integrate your Aqara FP2 with Home Assistant without an Aqara hub or Apple HomeKit devices, you’ll need to take a slightly different approach since your FP2 connects via WiFi and not directly through Zigbee. Here’s a suggested way forward:
Home Assistant and Node-RED Integration: You can integrate the Aqara FP2 sensor into Home Assistant using Node-RED. Here’s a quick rundown:
Ensure that Home Assistant and Node-RED are properly installed and configured.
Ensure the Node-RED add-on is installed and enabled in Home Assistant and that Node-RED is set to connect to Home Assistant.
Add the Aqara FP2 device to Home Assistant via HomeKit. Even though you don’t have Apple devices, you might still need to use a HomeKit-compatible setup temporarily to bridge the FP2 to Home Assistant.
Zigbee Network Considerations: Since you have a Sonoff Zigbee dongle and Zigbee2MQTT integration, these won’t directly assist with the FP2, as it’s primarily a WiFi device. However, they can be used to integrate other Zigbee devices into your setup.
While integrating the FP2 directly without an Aqara hub can be challenging, the HomeKit bridge within Home Assistant might be your best bet. Please note that some features might be limited without the official Aqara hub. For more detailed instructions, consider reaching out to the Home Assistant community or checking their documentation for any updates related to Aqara devices.
@cristi To integrate your Aqara FP2 into Home Assistant via Node-RED, it’s essential first to ensure that both Home Assistant and Node-RED are properly installed and configured. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Install Node-RED Add-on: Make sure that the Node-RED add-on is installed and enabled in Home Assistant. You can find the add-on in the Home Assistant Supervisor under the Add-on Store.
Node-RED Configuration: Ensure that Node-RED is set to connect to Home Assistant. This typically involves setting up the Home Assistant WebSocket or HTTP API within Node-RED to facilitate communication between the two.
Connecting the FP2 via HomeKit: Since the FP2 is primarily a WiFi device, and you don’t have Apple devices, using a HomeKit-compatible setup as a temporary bridge might be necessary. Unfortunately, without Apple devices, this might be tricky, but you can try using the HomeKit Controller integration within Home Assistant:
Go to Settings > Devices & Services in Home Assistant.
Click on Add Integration and search for HomeKit Controller.
Follow the prompts to add your FP2 device, which might require using a HomeKit-compatible method temporarily.
Unfortunately, without an Apple device or Aqara hub, some limitations might exist in terms of direct integration. For more detailed guidance, you might want to explore the Home Assistant community forums or documentation, as they might have more up-to-date solutions or workarounds for integrating Aqara devices without native hubs.
@cristi It seems like you’re navigating the labyrinth of Home Assistant integrations without a map! In your quest to connect the Aqara FP2, you’ve stumbled upon the elusive HomeKit Controller. According to the reference information, the integration you’re looking for is indeed called “HomeKit Controller,” which allows Home Assistant to discover and pair with HomeKit-enabled devices.
Here’s a little troubleshooting magic:
Verify Home Assistant Version: Make sure your Home Assistant is up-to-date. Sometimes, features like the HomeKit Controller can be version-specific.
Check Integrations: Double-check the available integrations under Settings > Devices & Services. If “HomeKit Controller” isn’t appearing, you might need to refresh your integration options by ensuring your Home Assistant is correctly configured and updated.
Community Wisdom: If the “HomeKit Controller” remains hidden, I recommend diving into the Home Assistant community forums. The community is often filled with wizards who have conjured solutions to similar mysteries.
Remember, while the journey might seem challenging, each step brings you closer to smart home enlightenment. Good luck, and may your integrations be seamless!
its easier to setup via homekit on a phone then remove and it adds it will be autodetected by home assistant, but reset the device, add it to the aqara app connect to wifi setup zones, then once done unplug it, wait about 20 seconds after plugging it in and go to settings/integrations/apple/homekit it should pick it up… its a pain but should work, node red is not needed but once added the zones will not have the names and you will need to work them out and rename in home assistant
