Nest Audio Speakers No Longer Playing Music via Voice Command

I’ve been using my Nest Audio speakers for months now, and they’ve been a fantastic addition to my home. Every day, at my son’s naptime, I’d simply say, ‘Ok Google, play Magic Piano Covers in Kid’s Room,’ and Spotify would start playing without any issues. It was seamless and reliable, which is exactly what I needed.

However, after a week-long trip, I noticed something was wrong. The same voice command would trigger a response from the speaker, but no music would play. Sometimes, it would even say, ‘Something went wrong, try again in a few seconds.’ I tried switching to Pandora, but the issue persisted.

I started troubleshooting immediately. I rebooted all the speakers through Google Home, unplugged them for several minutes, restarted my Netgear Nighthawk Router, and even did a full power cycle of my modem, router, and speakers. Nothing worked. In a desperate attempt, I unlinked Spotify and Pandora from Google Home, reset the service to YouTube, and then relinked Spotify and Pandora. The voice commands worked temporarily, but the issue returned after relinking.

After hours of frustration, I stumbled upon a forum post suggesting a factory reset of the speakers. I hesitated because I’d have to reconfigure everything, but it was worth a try. I followed the steps to factory reset each speaker, and to my relief, they started working again. It was like starting fresh, and now the voice commands are responding perfectly.

This experience taught me the importance of thorough troubleshooting and not giving up too easily. If anyone else is facing similar issues, I’d recommend trying a factory reset as a last resort. It might save you a lot of time and frustration.
