New M3 Firmware i received today - 4.5.70_0011/Thread 0011 changes Expand PAN ID - therefore breaks the Thread network. PAN ID still ident - so it took me very long to figure that out!
I tried to repair my devices in HA with the new Thread Network but Homeassistant stopped with " checking connectivity to thread network aqara Home failed "

Now when I check the firmware in HA - it tells me:

Installed version 4.5.70
Latest version 4.5.60

Any clue ?

Hi! yes - sure - several times, worked with gemini and later with claude to go through all …

Ok my be you should try adding it again on HA not sure exactly how HA deal will all but can you eliminate it from HA and add it back?or you did that too?

Before you go nuclear on repairing everything: check in HA’s Thread panel (Settings > System > Network > Thread) whether it shows one network or two. If you see a duplicate/orphaned network entry, that confirms the PAN actually split. And yeah, that version number mismatch looks like a bug worth reporting to support.

As already said - i spent a whole day with AI on this already and checked every possible option
HA doesn’t see it as seperate Network as the PAN’s are identical - but according to AI - with the Expand PAN ID being different - they don’t match

Anyone else got this new Firmware 4.5.70 ? any comment from Aqara ?

Question: How did you or the AI determine that the Extended PAN ID has changed? Did you check the Aqara Home app and compare it with the ID in Home Assistant?

If so, the IDs do look different, but in Home Assistant the ID is displayed in hexadecimal format, while the Aqara Home app displays it in decimal. So mathematically, the IDs are identical even though they look different.

Did Claude also notice that even with identical IDs, there is a discrepancy in the Extended PAN ID due to the floating-point issue? In other words: The IDs displayed are different from one another, even though they are the same behind the scenes.

yes - it mentioned it - and it was far off …

i came to this - AFTER all my Matter over Thread devices didn’t reconnect - only the matter over wifi still worked - and the only change was the firmware update at this time as before everything was fine for months

So if you are sure that the IDs have changed, it could be related to the firmware update. But that is pretty unusual. Shouldn’t Home Assistant then display the old orphaned network and the new network with the Expand PAN ID? I don’t believe the PAN ID is the deciding factor for what is displayed in HA, since it can change in case of collisions.

I would suspect that it might also be a coincidence and related to something else. Have you checked if the prefix for the Global Unicast Address might have changed at the same time? Possibly triggered by your router restarting? You should check if HA and the M3 has a Unique Local Address available.
