NFC Tag Setup for Smart Lighting and Door Lock

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share a really cool setup I’ve been working on with my smart home. I’ve finally got my system all sorted out, and I’m super happy with how it turned out. I thought I’d walk through what I did in case anyone else is interested in trying something similar.

So, the main thing I’ve been playing around with is using NFC tags to control my smart devices. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but the end result is pretty awesome. Basically, I’ve set up my front door so that when I wave my phone over the NFC sticker, it automatically turns on my lights, unlocks the door, and turns off the alarm. It’s like a mini-smart home oasis right at my front door!

To get this working, I used a few different apps and tools. First off, I needed an NFC reader app, and NFC Task Launcher has been a lifesaver. Then, I used Tasker to create a custom task that triggers a scene on my Vera controller. I also had to set up some HTTP GET requests to communicate with my devices. It sounds a bit complicated, but breaking it down step by step made it manageable.

Here’s a quick rundown of what I did:

  • I installed NFC Task Launcher and Tasker on my phone.
  • I created a task in Tasker that sends an HTTP GET request to my Vera controller.
  • I exported this task as a standalone app so it can run independently.
  • Finally, I set up the NFC tag to launch this app when it’s tapped.

It’s been so much fun experimenting with different scenarios. I can already see how this could be expanded to control other parts of my home too. If anyone has any questions or wants more details on how I set this up, just let me know! I’d be happy to share what I’ve learned.

Cheers to all the smart home enthusiasts out there—keep exploring and having fun with your setups! :rocket:
