No Apple? No Problem! Effective Ways to Use Aqara with Android

Hey , Share my journey using Aqara devices without diving into the Apple ecosystem. I’m an Android guy through and through, and I honestly thought Aqara was mostly Apple-focused when I first picked up some of their gear. Turns out, you can still get a solid smart home setup going without an Apple hub.

So here’s my setup: I’ve got the Hub M2 connected to my router, and from there, everything from sensors to switches runs through the Aqara Home app on my Pixel. It’s been super responsive. Bonus: it works well with Google Assistant for voice control, which I use way more than I thought I would.

I also paired a few automations directly through the Aqara app — like motion sensor triggers lights at night, and leak sensors sending alerts right to my phone (yup, already saved my kitchen once). Haven’t really missed HomeKit, to be honest.

If you’re on Android and hesitant to try Aqara, don’t be. It’s totally doable and reliable. Anyone else here running 100% Apple-free with Aqara? Would love to hear how others set it up.
