Hi everyone,
I’m posting to ask how Aqara HQ and the community view regional warranty obligations when an official reseller drops out of the network.
Our Experience:
Official Referral: In July 2024, Aqara HQ explicitly directed me to Hello Smart as an authorized Malaysian reseller.
10k+ Investment: Based on that endorsement, I spent over RM 10,000 outfitting my home with Aqara gear.
The Claim: When two H1 switches failed, tracking down documentation was difficult because Hello Smart had left the network. I managed to get the tax invoices myself and submitted them to Aqara Malaysia.
The Denial: Aqara MY rejected the claim for unit purchased March 9, 2026. They ignored the official purchase receipt and claimed the warranty expired based on their backend “activation date” (April 2025).
The Demands: They are requiring me to pay round-trip shipping or an RM 80 diagnostic fee for a unit bought earlier this year.
Questions for the Community & Aqara:
-
Why are backend stock/activation dates prioritized over a valid purchase tax invoice? Stock sitting on a shelf shouldn’t consume a customer’s warranty period.
-
When Aqara HQ recommends a reseller who later leaves the network, shouldn’t Aqara protect the end customer rather than shifting the burden onto us?
Has anyone else faced warranty rejections due to backend activation logs versus official receipts? How did you get HQ to step in? I’ve spent too much to leave this ecosystem now…
